Volunteer to Serve in Worship
Worship is at the heart of who we are at Christ the King. It takes a lot of people serving in a lot of different ways to make worship happen each week. Interested in being part of it? This page is for you.
The Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship services, most specifically the altar area. This shall include preparing the elements for communion, coordination of altar flowers, supplying baptismal napkins, and decorating the sanctuary according to the church seasons. Contact the church office if you are interested in serving on The Altar Guild.
There are several ways to volunteer in worship. You may choose to only do one, or all! Contact the church office for questions or to become part of our regular worship participant schedule.
Ushers assist with coordinating the movement of people before and during the worship service. They welcome people to worship by distributing bulletins and assisting people with finding seats, count and record the number of worship participants, receive the offering, direct worshipers to communion, and straighten the sanctuary after the service.
Readers share the texts for worship during the service. The reading of Scripture is central to worship and sets the foundation for the entire service, which means the role of the reader involves speaking clearly and with understanding of the meaning of the day’s Scripture.
The Good Morning Crew makes members and visitors feel welcome as they arrive for worship. This role involves opening outside doors for attenders, acquainting visitors with the building, assisting people from their cars to the doors, and answering questions.
Communion servers help in serving communion to the congregation with reverence.
